• Interim report of the Special Rapporteur on the independence of judges and lawyers (+)

This report addresses the need to consider and integrate a gender perspective in the criminal justice system as a fundamental step towards allowing equal access to justice for women and men and in respect of the role to be played by judges and lawyers. According to the report, applying a human rights-based approach is the best instrument with which to guide States and other international and national actors alike, and allow the development of laws, rules of procedures and jurisprudence that respect internationally, as well as nationally, recognized legal principles of equality between women and men and non-discrimination on the grounds of gender.
