In Georgia, the success, acceptance, and credibility of the Ombudsman Institution has depended in large part on the public standing of Sozar Subari. His background in human rights has lent him legitimacy in the public’s eyes as well as helped to drive the institution’s agenda. Under his watch, the Ombudsman has built bridges between communities and provided training to empower disenfranchised groups with an eye on creating a more a tolerant society where rights violations are prevented from happening. Mr. Subari has also made it a point to focus on children’s rights, holding events throughout the country that educate children on their rights and how to best protect them.
