• Human Rights Education: Greece, Kuwait, Lithuania and Uganda (+)

Since its establishment in 1953, UNESCO Associated Schools have been carrying out activities for the promotion of human rights, especially through education. Human rights education implies the learning and practice of human rights by using a combination of cognitive, creative and innovative approaches. Human rights education promotes a rights-based approach to education and should be understood as a process
that includes ‘human rights through education’ and ‘human rights in education’.

In line with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Convention on the Rights of the Child, UNESCO Associated Schools conduct projects aimed at integrating human rights education in the learning process. This publication profiles case studies in the following:

Greece: The Rights of the Child
Kuwait: Continued Slavery in the Present World
    Lithuania: Youth for Transparency
    Uganda: Empowering girls and women
