• ESCR – General


    This section contains an overview of Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ESCR) in general.  The dedication of a separate page to ESCR should not be viewed as suggesting these are somehow a distinct category of rights, or that they should be dealt with in isolation from all other rights recognized in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.  Rather, it reflects the growing attention to ESCR over the past decade, not least of all efforts to dispel common misconceptions about ESCR such as that they are mere aspirations or policy goals as opposed to rights, are too vague to be enforceable and are not justiciable.
